HeliosSharp
ReleasedSolar detail, recovered in the browser.
A specialised post-processor for solar astrophotography. Load a stacked frame straight out of AutoStakkert! or Registax and pull out granulation, fibrils and prominences with multi-scale wavelet sharpening. No heavy desktop software, no install, nothing to configure.
Solar detail lives at several scales at once.
Unsharp masking and deconvolution treat the frame as a single scale, which is why they tend to amplify noise before they finish resolving structure. Solar features don't work that way: surface granulation, penumbral fibrils and active regions all sit at different frequencies in the same image.
- Separate the image into three frequency layers and sharpen each independently.
- Contrast-aware thresholding on every layer, so low-contrast background doesn't turn to grain.
- Full artistic control, so you can push fine detail hard without wrecking the limb or the disk.
A complete solar workflow.
Direct TIFF support
Native in-browser decoding of 16-bit .tif and .tiff stacks straight from AutoStakkert! or Registax. No pre-conversion step.
Three-scale wavelet sharpening
Fine for surface granulation, Medium for penumbral structure and fibrils, Coarse for macro-contrast across active regions and the limb.
Adaptive noise reduction
Smooth, contrast-aware thresholding on each wavelet layer prevents grain and noise amplification in low-contrast areas.
Interactive tone curve
A cubic-spline curve built for stretching high-dynamic-range solar data, lifting faint edge prominences without blowing out the central disk.
False-colour mapping
One-click colourisation presets tuned for H-alpha, Calcium-K and classic solar gold emission.
Hold to compare
Instant side-by-side inspection against the original raw stack, so you can see exactly what your adjustments are doing.
See it working.
Built for solar imagers.
Solar astrophotographers
Imagers running H-alpha scopes or solar wedge setups who want a fast, focused post-processing pass without launching heavy desktop software.
Planetary & deep-sky imagers
Anyone who wants streamlined multi-frequency sharpening in a browser tab rather than a full processing suite.
Educators & outreach
Outreach astronomers processing and displaying high-detail solar images live during public viewing events.
